Ford Weaves Women's Activism, Style in Liberated Threads.

At the Organization of American Historians yearly meeting last month, Dr. Tanisha C. Ford, a freshly tenured assistant teacher of women, gender, sexuality studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, was granted the respected Liberty Legacy Foundation Award for her most recent book Liberated Threads: Black Women, Style, and the Global Politics of Soul (University of North Carolina Press).

A rising star in academic community, Ford has been admired by scholars such as Dr. Tiffany Gill of the University of Delaware for composing an engaging book that offers an unusual and much-needed window into the activism and experiences of Black women in the United States and abroad.
